As someone who has spent over 20 years in the library sector, I’ve seen firsthand the impact that these incredible professionals have on their communities. I’ve also witnessed the emotional and professional toll that redundancy can take. This is why I’ve launched a crowdfunding campaign to provide much-needed support to our library professionals during this challenging time.
Librarians need support more than ever when they face redundancy or support people going through it but often the funds that would provide it have gone from their budgets and their own money is tight.
This is why I am lookin at crowd funding and sponsorship to be able to offer the support that they need.
Redundancy affects everyone
Along with people directly under threat from redundancy it affects everyone, this is why this campaign is aimed at anyone working in an organisation affected by redundancy with tailored support for those who have the threat of it hanging over them, those managing the process and those who aren't directly affected.
Once the process itself is over those left in the organisation often need support and this funding if achieved will allow ongoing support for individuals.
£5
£5 A small donation of £5 can make a big difference. It can help cover the cost of resources for one participant in our online support group, ensuring they have access to the materials and tools they need.
£25 A donation of £25 could provide a library professional with access to a single webinar, offering them vital guidance on career transition, resilience building, or mental well-being.
£50 With £50, we can provide one hour of group coaching for a librarian, giving them the support and peer connection they need to navigate redundancy.
£200 If we raise £200, we can deliver a webinar for up to 100 librarians. This session could cover essential topics such as job search strategies, stress management, or leadership during times of change.
£500 If we raise £500, we could fund a full day of one-on-one coaching sessions for up to three library professionals, helping them gain personalized guidance as they explore new career opportunities
£1,000: If we raise £1,000, we could provide a half-day workshop for up to 50 librarians, focusing on in-depth topics like advanced career planning, mental health strategies, or leadership during restructuring
£2,250 if we raise £2,250, we could run a complete group coaching program for five librarians. This would include six sessions where participants can share experiences, solve problems collectively, and build lasting support networks.
£5,000 If we raise £5,000, we could fund two group coaching programs for a total of 10 librarians, along with two webinars that could reach up to 200 library professionals. This would create a strong foundation of support for those facing redundancy.
£10,000 If we raise £10,000, we could fund four group coaching programs, benefiting 20 librarians, and deliver five webinars that could provide guidance and support to up to 500 library professionals across the country. This level of funding would have a transformative impact, reaching hundreds of professionals in need.
If We Can Do More…
If we exceed our stretch goal of £10,000, we want to extend this support to even more library professionals. This means more webinars, coaching sessions, and a larger community where everyone feels supported.
Webinars to help with career transitions, building resilience, and maintaining mental well-being.
One-on-One Coaching to provide personalized guidance for those exploring new opportunities.
Group Coaching sessions where professionals can share experiences and support each other.
An Online Support Group to create a safe space for ongoing connection and community.

Together, you’ll explore your individual goals, strengths, and areas for development, creating a customizsd plan to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Career Exploration:
These coaching sessions are particularly valuable for those considering a career change or exploring new opportunities within or beyond the library sector. Your coach will guide you through the process of identifying potential career paths, developing new skills, and making strategic decisions that align with your personal and professional aspirations.
Building Confidence:
Redundancy can sometimes shake your confidence and leave you questioning your value. One-on-one coaching provides a supportive environment where you can rebuild your self-esteem, recognize your achievements, and develop the self-assurance needed to pursue new opportunities. Your coach will help you highlight your strengths and achievements, ensuring that you’re well-prepared to present yourself in the best possible light.
Collaborative Learning:
Group coaching sessions bring together small groups of library professionals who are facing similar challenges. These sessions create a collaborative environment where participants can share their experiences, exchange ideas, and offer support to one another. The group dynamic fosters a sense of camaraderie, reminding participants that they’re not alone in their journey.
Collective Problem-Solving:
In group coaching, participants have the opportunity to work together on common challenges, such as coping with job loss, managing career transitions, or exploring new opportunities. The coach facilitates the sessions, guiding the group through discussions and exercises that encourage collective problem-solving and the sharing of practical advice. This approach allows participants to benefit from diverse perspectives and learn from each other’s experiences.
Building a Support Network:
One of the key benefits of group coaching is the opportunity to build a network of peers who understand what you’re going through. These connections can provide ongoing support, encouragement, and accountability as you navigate your career transition. Group coaching helps create a sense of community, reducing the isolation that can often accompany redundancy.
Online Support Group:
A Safe Space for Ongoing Connection and Community
Continued Support:
The online support group is a dedicated space where library professionals can stay connected and receive ongoing support after the initial coaching and webinars. This group is moderated to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where members can freely share their thoughts, challenges, and successes.
Resource Sharing:
Members of the online support group will have access to a wealth of shared resources, including job opportunities, educational materials, and tools for career development. It’s a place where you can find and share valuable information that can assist in your career journey, from tips on applying for jobs to recommendations for further training and education.
Community Building:
Perhaps most importantly, the online support group fosters a sense of community among library professionals who are navigating similar challenges. It’s a place where you can connect with others who truly understand what you’re going through, offer and receive encouragement, and build lasting relationships that extend beyond the redundancy process. The support group is there to help you stay motivated, informed, and connected as you move forward in your career.
